Hello,
I am trying to remove my tranny for an inspection because it pops out of second. 1935 straight 8 Hudson.
I am leaving the engine in the car. I removed the starter and the bell housing bolts. I removed the cross member bolts. I loosened up the clutch linkage shaft. Speedometer cable is off. Drive line disconnected. Engine is supported. I can jiggle the tranny and bell housing and can see motion between it and the clutch. I jiggle and jiggle and say every bad word I know...but I can't get the tranny and bell housing to break free and slip off. I am thinking there is a trick to get the tranny to slip off....maybe spinning the clutch as I pull back on the tranny?
Thanks,
John
Have you ;removed the pedal links that slip into a hole in the cross shaft? A bit of a circus to remove the pedal support bracket and jiggle the shafts around. I assume you mean by "cross member bolts" you are referring to the 5/16" bolts that hold the rear engine mount in place? You will have to jack the engine up quite a bit.
