Wondering if the rear fender skirts used on 1937 Hudson eights are available in like reproduction type stock?
My '37 is wearing a set of steel repro's that were available back in the 70's but I don't believe they are out there anymore.
You might try Agape at http://www.agapeautoparts.com/ -- they claim to have patterns for a lot of cars from the thirties. I have never seen one advertised for a '37, though.
A set of used original ones just sold on Ebay for over $400, and still needed the authentic chrome emblems. Here's the Ebay page, so you can see what a real "factory" pair looks like. Of course, you could always attempt to fabricate them yourself https://youtu.be/xY037R2OaVg or commission a good body person to make a set for you!

Be Patient, There is a Fabricator in N.C. working on them to sell soon on FB & this Forum.. I sent him patterns from mine....
Chuck, I think he would find a pretty good market for them, so long as the price is reasonable. There are a lot of '37's out there and (in my opinion) the look of the car (with it's "halfway" wheel cutout) is improved by them.
Would they have the same lever-action as the originals or would they require bolted clips at front and back, as the repro's of the 1970's require?
Would they have that same perimeter flange (to hold the original type of rubber edging) that the originals did? I think Wildrick sells this rubber extrusion nowadays....or at least K-Gap once stocked it.
It would be a shame to go to all of the trouble of having them repro'd only to have them fall short of the original in the "look" or in the ease of operation! Anyway, I'm glad to hear someone is planning to make them.
Jon,
These Skirts were made by a Fabricator in Western reserve Chapter sweveral Yrs ago. He made three Sets and used a rubber seal from KGap around the Radius edge and they fasten front & rear at the bottom. Don't know what originals look like but I bought two Pr for my '37's and they look very nice and fit tight.
Currently, the Son of the late person I bought them from is a NASCAR Fabricator so I sent him a pattern, pictures and measurements,. He will have a Set completed thru the Holidays but he will not have the Emblems. However, I have a Repu Emblem if someone would want to produce them. Attach picture of my '37's with the Skirts.
Ps, I looked at your Pictures and these Skirts will not have that Lever assy. They have similar Brackets & Clamps. They fit tight but fasten at bottom to the fender Lip with Stainless Sheet Screws and told the fabricator to price fairly and they will sell. I have had them for thee Yrs and haven't lost them yet and have some rough roads in Pa.
If they are reasonable, I would be interested in a set as well for a 37 Hudson.
They are available in "as original" style. But I don't make them very often, just when I have time.
The skirts pictured here happen to be '36 and '34-5. However, they are "as original" style, which is much more work than the after market style.
Can you give any contact information, or is the best way to use the Private Message system here?
