I found another shell parts car that is a 40. ( 44-34196) it is defiantly an 8 6cyl. Is there a way of knowing if overdrive buy serial number. I'm going to try to get pictures of transmission tailstock area next week. Just curious if we can know by SERIAL number. Cleansweep@xplornet.ca 5196543144. Thanks Ted
No, serial number tells nothing about options; just look at the trans and it will be readily apparent.
Look under the hood, see if there is another cable coming out of the firewall. You will see the speedometer cable and then another cable similar in appearance, but not the same. the overdrive knob on either side of the steering column, extra relay under the hood with probably a fuse on it or inline fuse coming from the starter for power to a relay?. Just a few easy tel-tel's.
