Hi Ted here. Just wondering. I'm looking at a 40 8cyl 4dr parts car. Would SERIAL number 1450217 be a 40 or 41. . I think it is a 40. Just want to make sure. There is no model number on stage. Cleansweep@xplornet.ca 5196543144. Thanks

That would be a 1941 Commodore Eight.

Can't decipher the second photo.
The 1941 OD trans would would similar to those of the later 40's I think, but you'd better get confirmation on that.
Of course, it has the levers on the side, unlike the '40.

the 40 OD has no solenoid.
It is basically a centrifugally operated trans.
Top of trans OD section has two access screw plugs allowing the ability to adjust screws to control centrifugal action, thus Kick in speed can be adjusted.

Earlier chrysler OD's were similar.

The O.D pictured is the Warner model R-9 used by Hudson in 1941-1947.
