Hello, I have a Hudson 8 engine and pile of bits that I will build a Hudson/Railton special. The engine had been partially restored 8 years ago but i dont know what was done. It was never fully assembled and i would like to identify the date and any other relevant information i need to buy or hunt for remaining parts. There are a few numbers on the block which i am assuming are casting numbers ( im not sure what i am looking for and cant see anything else unless someone can advise where i need to look). I have attached pictures of the engine and relevant numbers.
Advice on what to do, use or modify would be greatly appreciated on any technical changes for cam, carburetors, oil system, harmonic balancer (missing). Also where to source or what to modify to change the diff ratio,
If anyone has a set of Hartford telecontrol shock absorbers suitable for the Hudson/Railton I am looking to buy a full set up.
I am also looking for at least three or more 16" wire wheels and the remote gear shift used in the Railton (picture also atached). I am slowly working on a list of other missing bits.
I am in Melbourne, Australia (down under).
Many thanks Phillip
Phillip, Your engine is from the 1938 model year. I have been trying to gather casting numbers and date codes for Hudson blocks to aid
in identification. Your engine was cast by H ?? and the date is Jan 17, 1938.
As is sometimes the case there are descrepancies with the numbers appearing. I have both 6cyl and 8 cyl. using the # 152601 and likewise
some using 152501. I NEED more samples from members.. Please!
Looks like a fun project! Good luck.

Thanks for the fast response.
The light went on when you told me the details and I now understand the system used by Hudson and what I am looking at. I will now follow through on the specs with the info that I have. If anyone else has information on specifications and modifications for the 1938 engine this would be greatly appreciated.
regards
Hi All. Can anyone tell me what the correct engine casting number for a 33 terraplane 8 coupe would be. Thank You
42000, probably from the CWC foundry
What year
Terraplane 8 engine was a one year only, 1933.
Hello Phillip. We now have cam bearings for these engines. They are different from the later 40 and up 8 cylinder cam bearings. Contact us at info@ WRPHET.com
