Will we be at The Quality Inn Carlisle?
Only 11 views in a month, I guess there's not too much interest.
The Quality Inn is now called the Appalachian Hotel. I happen to like this place (but I liked all the others also) but the breakfast sucks. It's a good thing the Middlesex Diner is next door. I stay 4 nights.
I used to stay with the group, but one of the prior hotels had regressed to a point I couldn't deal with and started staying at one of the 'choice' hotels (Hummelstown or by the Harrisburg airport). I found I enjoyed not dealing with the traffic on 83 coming and going every day (crossing the bridge) and the easier/shorter drive in and out. I can usually get a room in the $100/night range at one of them by frequently checking the website starting in December. I do miss not attending the HET flea market (I've been going home the day before), but heard that has dwindled.
I know what you mean about one of our prior motels. In the one we had before moving to the "new" Quality Inn, I dropped the remote on the floor and picked up an old sock instead!
I've been staying with the group since 1984 and Jean Gossert and the Best Western was by far the best. The only bad thing I remember is when there was no one to serve in the restaurant and all the breakfasts were cold.
Since the AACA changed the show dates, I don't think there has been a HET flea market on the day after.
In 16 days I'll be in Hershey.
It seems no one has chimed in beside Steve. In over 2 months there has been only 41 views of this post. I guess there is no interest.
The 2025 AACA Eastern National Fall Meet will take place in Hershey, Pa. from Tuesday, Oct. 7 through Friday, Oct. 10. As usual, the H-E-T Club will have a presence at various places in and near Hershey. The H-E-T’s hospitality and recruitment trailer will be parked in the flea market’s Red Field at space RNE 24-25 for the full four days, from roughly 8:30 AM until 5:00 PM daily (until noon on Friday). There, Club members can enjoy donuts and fresh coffee, see old friends and meet new ones, renew Club memberships, post messages on the bulletin board, and even store heavy Hudson parts behind the counter for pickup later in the day.Meanwhile, the Club has arranged for a block of 15 reduced-rate rooms at the Appalachian Hotel, 1825 Harrisburg Pike, Carlisle, Pa. This is the same hotel (Quality Inn) used by the Club in recent years; only the name has changed! Rooms are available to H-E-T Club members from Monday through Friday night. The rate is $ 89 per room, plus 11% sales tax. Members should reserve directly with the motel at (717) 245-2242 and give the code “Hudson Automobile Club” in order to get the discount. Reserve by Sept. 5 to get the special rate. If you encounter any difficulties, or rooms are sold out, please contact Jon Battle (see below). The motel is located on Route 11, just east of its intersection with Interstate 81, (exit 52A/B) -- 30 miles west of Hershey.Due to a lack of participants in recent years, the Club will not maintain a hospitality room at the hotel this year, nor will a Hudson flea market be held in the parking lot.A Hudson dinner gathering will take place in Carlisle on Thursday, Oct. 9, at 6:30 PM, at Hoss’ Steak and Sea House, 909 Walnut Bottom Rd. (located nine minutes from the Appalachian Hotel). Anyone with an interest in Hudsons is welcome. Each diner may order and pay separately. Our tables will be located in the room off the main dining area; ask for “Hudson Club” at front desk. Reservations are not required, but please notify Jon Battle by Oct. 3 if you plan to attend, so we can set up enough tables. Finally, if you’d consider volunteering at any of the H-E-T’s Hershey activities, please contact Jon Battle by Oct. 1 (contact information is listed below). We especially need people to help at the trailer, where they can meet and welcome Hudson enthusiasts from across the U.S. and around the world, recruit new members, and spread the word about Hudsons to those who have never heard it. Hudson owners who help at the booth can sometimes arrange to park their Hudsons there at no charge. (This year, there is a short supply of passes to get cars into the flea market, but contact us anyway!) Jon’s cellphone number is 703-986-8785 and his e-mail address is detailed@verizon.net I do apologize for my tardiness!
