Okay, I can follow that logic. Folks who pony up the additional money to get their (paper) WTN mailed on time, would not be happy to see the electronic version appearing on the website simultaneously with the mailing of first class WTN's. (This occurs roughly on the 15th of alternate months.)

The solution would then be to hold the electronic release until roughly the first of the following month, at which point the second class postage folks are beginning to get theirs. First class folks are happy 'cause they've already got their paper WTN's. Second class folks are happy 'cause the e-version hasn't beat their paper WTN delivery by much. And if they ARE unhappy, this is an impetus to switch to e-delivery.

Because of the savings in postage we could offer a discount for e-delivery BUT we would still charge e-delivery members for the paper and ink (as if they still received a paper copy), as a sort of "subsidy" to keep the paper WTN alive. (That's because reducing the number of paper copies printed, makes the remaining copies that much more expensive to print.) We would continue this subsidy until most people were ''won over'' to e-delivery.

(However, "paper troglodytes" like me might continue to make up a majority for quite some time (I like a WTN I can hold in my hand). So the subsidy might hang around for quite awhile.

Anyway -- might this be a workable approach, given all we've discussed so far on this subject?

I don't know - Seems to be the only consideration is for those receiving '1st Class' mail (?), and only from the point of view of those who are not online AND are receiving '1st Class' delivery...

From that perspective, it does look like there are in reality different 'classes' or 'levels' of membership (?).

The main focus on the decision about the release date of the online version of the WTN appears to be:
1. 'First dibbs' access to the 'Classifieds' area within the WTN by those receiving the publication by 'First Class' mail??;
2. Possible loss of revenue, should members elect 'online only' or a downgrade to '2nd Class' mail;

And, what about all our international members, who typically don't see their WTN until the middle of the following month?

Although I look forward to every issue of my WTN, the classifieds is not the first place I go - and I am in the midst of restoring two Hudsons. Like most others, my interest is in seeing the magazine as a whole, and the quicker I can get it, the better.

Bringing the WTN 'online' will require many changes, among them being how we see or view the process, membership dues, etc., and it is all about progress and moving forward.

As has been indicated, the solutions or answers are not easy, nor will they be welcome on all fronts.

I am very happy to receive my wtn each time, and I want that it continuous, because nothing does replace a good book in hand, lol But I'm for a version electronics, because I do not speak English, with this system I could have direct translation with google, as for the siteI think that many subscribers international think like me

Pierre, is it easy to do a translation of the WTN? That sounds pretty cool. I guess you just have to copy the article and submit it to the translation software.

Pierre, you dont need to do a lend request for WTNs. All you need to do is click on the download online material. The link is under the picture. The lend request is for information that the Library may need to make copies for you. If I could suppress that for the WTNs and Alex's material I would but I cant right now.

My thanks to Pattie Harrington for sending me the 2011 WTNs. They are now posted in the Library. One note, I am still trying to resolve why the gallery view is not showing the magazine covers. If this is working on your computer, I would be interest in hearing about it. I have posted on their forum and the extension authors has no idea why it is not working.

Hi Rick and Arron,
I just want to bring to your attention that the Jan/Feb 2012 issue of WTN has duplicate pages after page 52. After that page it starts all over again from the contents page. This is the only issue I have seen so far, so it might only be this one but i'd check others just encase.
Thanks,
Chris
