Thanks Ray!
Can you give me any advice on how to identify the Hudson built 3.58 diff from the later Dana 3.07 by looking at the outside of the complete axle assembly? Any identifying features visible from the outside without removing the carrier and counting teeth? I may know where there is a complete 3.58 axle assembly but need to be sure what I'm looking at. Thanks very much.
The later rear ends had a replaceable cover, earlier ones you could remove the whole centre nugget. Both have tags under one bolt with the ratio stamped in.
Thanks Geoff. Your description makes it easy to get homed in on the right one.
We have a 3.58 Hudson axle from a 1951 Hornet Hollywood with Hydramatic. 89K mile car. Could sell complete or just the center carrier. Email me at (HET)knnu21 at yahoo (dot) com. Thank You, Kenneth

Ken, who is "WE" ?.
I did it in the middle 60s in a 52 Hornet. Lost top speed and wore out the clutch. went back to the original gears.
