Hello I was trying to figure out my rear end axle ratio on a 54 wasp that had a borg warner automatic 3 speed transmission. From what I have read it should be a 3.07, or lower. But rotating the tires and counting the turns on the drive shaft it seems to be a 2.73. I need to know for the speedo gear selection as I am converting the car to a 700 r4 transmission. Any Info would be appreciated.

Brent , the stock ratios for the hydramatic or automatic in 1954 was 3:07. The other ratios available for 3 speed and overdrive was 4:55 or 4:09. There were no other STOCK options available. What may have transpired over the years ... well who knows? Other gear ratios were available from Dana/Spicer so it may be that someone has switched out the ring and pinion or the rear end is not a Hudson rear end. You might want to check on the rear end id tag that is attached to the bolted on housing cover to verify exactly what you may have.
Thanks lance, I found the tag and after cleaning it off it was 43/14 which is the 3.07 just like you said. I must not have spun the wheels right or like you said who knows what has been done in the past sixty years.

Glad to help Brent.
