I was away for a couple of weeks. Just before I left the folks on the HET Classic Car forum were discussing that the Hudson forum , as well as other makes, may be dropped. There is a totally new format and I see no Forum Link. Would I be correct in saying Classic Car dropped the forums ? Is there just this forum now? Ron

Big thanks to Aaron, Rick and all who had the foresight to set this forum up. Thought that there would be more traffic on this sight due to the omission of CCars. When did the change occur, I was in Europe?

It isn't gone yet (or wasn't a couple of hours ago), but it will soon be 'history' - at least in its current location.

Sorry for being pessimistic, but as soon as we heard that 'classiccars.com' had bought 'classiccar.com', the handwriting was "on the wall" (so to speak). This type of thing happens all the time, especially when two URLs are so close to being identical - they tend to buy-out the competition, and turn it into merely a 'pointer' to their own website (which is what is happening in this case).

We honestly wish that we had not been right/correct, however this appears to be turning into quite a positive event for us (the HET Club), as well as those Hud-Nuts that frequent the classiccar.com Forum.

Please be patient & understanding during this 'move' - While the initial copying of the threads, posts, etc., will probably be pretty quick, it may well take a little while to get all the 'bells and whistles' working the way they should.
We don't fully know what to expect, or what problems we may encounter in this process - so it will be a learning experience for our admins and moderators. As with other aspects of our club, this is an all volunteer effort, with everyone donating their time and energies to get this going (and keep it running).

That being said, you should see some improvement(s) over what was on classiccar.com as well. While the classiccar.com admins primary concern was their website and selling cars for their customers, our SOLE concern will be the operation and functionality of the open forum.

To emphasize and expand upon what Rick just said:

1. The Classiccar.com Hudson Forum will move to this H-E-T website, probably by Friday, February 14. Within a day or so after that, the entire forum section at Classiccar.com will cease to exist.

2. The URL for the relocated forum will be: http://forum.hetclub.org/ . Bookmark it now. Until we ''throw the switch'' and make the changeover, you will see a static placeholder there, so don't be alarmed.

3. All the existing Hudson threads and posts will be coming to our site. Same format as before. Nothing will be lost, except all the non-Hudson sub-forums. We will retain the following categories as before:
Hudson
Hudson Street Rods
Off-Topic
In addition we are importing the following categories:
AMC
The Flathead Forum
Maybe one or two others, to be determined.

4. As in anything human, there will no doubt be glitches! We'll try to make the changeover as smooth as possible. Also, it appears you will be able to use the same passwords as before but one never knows! We hope that all the avatars remain as before, but there is always a chance that you may have to re-load yours. Bear with us!

5. The Classiccar.com forum has been a great meeting place for H-E-T members, non-affiliated Hudson enthusiasts, curious gearheads, and newcomers who may have questions about Hudsons or who might have parts or cars to sell or interesting historical facts. However, with only one basic "Hudson" category, it is not user-friendly if you want to find a past posting. The search engine doesn't work that well, and you must root around amongst 680 pages of topics (22,000 of them) to find a previous message! The new, H-E-T Forum (that you're now reading) has many categories into which to file your message. That means it's much easier to find a past message. Also, it's geared for Club members, and we can "go by our real names" as well as discuss Club business without having a lot of non-Club members looking over our shoulders. (We do have "limited members" who aren't Club members; they'll just have to put up with us, I guess!)

I appreciated the Classiccar Forum and thank all the volunteers behind the scene that maintained & monitored it...

I found it a great Venue for sharing Information on our Hudson's. However,I look forward to having only one Site that everyone will utilize.

Ray, Nash was not included but AMC has been moved over, along with the Hudson forums (and one or two others).

With any luck, someone will jump in here and answer that. I myself don't subscribe to Facebook and am totally clueless on the subject!

(There are now two separate forums here at Hetclub.org, of course. The H-E-T Hudson Forum and the newly-relocated Classiccar forum (now called the Hudson Essex Terraplane 'Open Forum')

Everything is separate: HET Forum; HET Club on Facebook; and HET Open Forum.
the old classiccar forum is now gone.

Just checked - it's still there (just locked-out, with notices and pointers to where it has been relocated. New location is: http://forum.hetclub.org/).

However, per Aaron, it will be gone very soon.
