On the Classic Car Forum we have from time to time had members request information on the actual outside rear view mirrors that Hudson marketed thru their dealers. Upon going thru my files of "Hudson Service Merchandisers" today I found in the November 1950 issue the attached page promoting their new outside rear view mirror. Please note this unit had two ways to adjust the head of the mirror (see the two arrows in the copy) which would allow the mirror to be adjusted correctly for either side of the automobile

I bought a 52 in 1960 and it had a mirror exactly like that one shown on the left drivers door. As I said in an earlier post I bought two just like the one shown in Hudson boxes and put them on my 51 hardtop. One was broken off at a HET meet and I took the other one off and replaced them with two different kinds. Cant find the one I took off and will use it when I find it on my 51 sedan. I think in maybe 52 or 53 through 54 they came out with a new shape that was more circular in the back and much more durable. I have one of those around here somewhere too. Maybe I should become more organized, do you think??? LOL
Found my mirror, Doesnt have the backing plate to mount it. Any suggestions or am I screwed??
The only answer would be to try to fabricate one that will work - I wouldn't think it would too hard to figure it out.
Jerry, that was my idea too, unless I can find another type of mirror and adapt the backing plate to fit. I actually have two ,out of Hudson boxes, mirrors with no backing plates I want to put on my 51 Hornet sedan.
