I need the color coding for a 1952 Hornet signal light switch. It is to be installed into a 1948 super six with no signal lighting at all. The color of wire to each light, brake switch and flasher. Thanks Dan
Are you using a six-wire or three-wire switch?
I believe that the Super's smaller taillights have but one lamp; the Commodores had two lamps, one dedicated to the directional signal.
Your Super with its smaller taillight will therefore require a six-wire switch due to the fact that the brake light filament is serving double duty as the turn signal also.
However, if your Super has the larger, Commodore lights (some folks retro-fit these to the Supers), then it only needs the three wire switch, because its taillights will have a second lamp socket dedicated to the turn signal.
I have an article from our chapter newsletter which shows the wiring of both types of switches, with wiring color identified. I would be happy to e-mail it if you send me your e-mail address. Either PM me, or e-mail HETdetailed@veriozon.net (drop the HET before sending).

Did you already buy these? I purchased a product called Smart Signal for my 31 Ford. They are pricey at about $360 but can be easily removed( magnets) and used on multiple vehicles or sold if no longer required. Very bright with E-flashers and parking lamp ability. Check 'em out on line.
I also have a model A sport coupe with a built 50 flathead. Was considering that signal lite switch. When the Hudson is done, the A is back in line Thanks again Dan
I received an email yesterday warning that the email that I had sent to the HET web site was not delivered, but that they would keep trying to deliver for two more days. They were implying that the fault was on the email receiving end. Thanks Dan
To whom, specifically, was the e-mail sent?
detailed@Veriozon.net the same as the address on the message that I got on Friday about the signal switch. Maybe veriozon is miss spelled. But because I'm computer illiterate I just spelled it as written. Also don't know how to PM. [Personal message?]
I'm sorry, I misspelled my e-mail address!
It is indeed HETdetailed@verizon.net , not veriozon. (Delete the HET before sending)
Yes indeed I am interested in the signal light wiring color code from You're club news letter. Also, thanks Jon for your tutorial on the usage of this forum. I will now practice the proper manner on how to get around site Dan
Dan and John,
Don't we have the schematics for these posted at least on the member accessible sites? As many requests as there are we should.
The three wire switch which is 1950 and back, has black, blue, and yellow wires. I think yellow is right hand, blue is left hand, and black goes to the flasher. There is a green wire off that that goes to the signal indicator on the dash (the dash jewell). I believe the connector for power is a yellow with red tracer from the ammeter to the black wire. This is all from memory from a couple of years ago, but we should post this online. I had a simple diagram from YnZs, and also I have a diagram from the 1950 Pacemaker service manual. Would that be helpful to you?
Hi, Tim:
To answer your questions:
1. I did send Dan the article I mentioned, which contains color-coded wiring diagrams of both the three- and six-wire turn signal switches.
2. The Club does have a lot of literature available here (under "LIBRARY", above) which contains several shop manuals. In the manual I looked at, the wiring diagram was blurry, and it did not included the turn signal wiring for some reason.
3. Thanks for your offer of the wiring diagram from the Pacemaker shop manual. You might want to contact Alex Burr (who scans and uploads all this technical literature), it is possible that he could indeed use it.
Thank You for the color code information, Jon. It turns out that my difficulty with getting every thing straight was that one of the contacts in the signal switch left turn side was not contacting so that had to be fixed. Now it works properly.
