Hello, I've got a Wasp with a 3spd/od trans mated to a 308/twin h motor. The clutch is slipping, so I thought I'd replace it. Looking on Wildrick's page, there seem to be 4 clutches (9", 10", 9" HD, and 10" HD). I'm not sure what's in there now, but will pull everything shortly. In the interim, I'm wondering if the 10s (or 10 hds) are more durable than the smaller 9/9hds. I've read that it's possible to swap to a 10 (if it doesn't have it already) by swapping flywheel and pressure plate. With the bigger motor, would this be worth it? Or should I just get another of whatever is in there and not lose sleep over this? With either size, does anyone know the difference between the regular and hd clutches? Assuming HD stands for Heavy Duty, are they otherwise interchangeable? Do they have different action? Or is the HD much more durable?

Thanks, Benjamin

Benjamin, You're going to want the 10" clutch because you have OD. That's what is in there now, pretty sure. You should send your entire clutch and pressure plate into Doug Wildrick and he will rebuild it properly for you. The pressure plate has to be properly surfaced. There is another gentleman that also does clutches, so you could consider sending it to him also. I've been very happy with the work that Doug did for me. Actually, I'm not sure what the HD stands for.

I'll assume you're well-versed in auto mechanics but I'll still ask the question: are you sure your clutch is slipping? There is no further adjustment possible? Have you tried changing the Hudsonite?

Quite possibly you're correct, but since this is (I believe) your first Hudson, you might be unfamiliar with the clutch. You might want to explore all possibilities before spending the money on a new clutch.

" Actually, I'm not sure what the HD stands for."

H-D,is heavy duty or in the Hudson parts book,S/U. S/U = Severe Usage,Taxi Cab,some trucks, and other special service applications. There is a difference in the parts.

Also, as tim pointed out,10" is what you should use. If you had Overdrive,it was standard 10". You have to know what parts you can mix and match, Thanks Doug
