This is what happens when no spacer is installed with the fuel pump-
My fault as I re-installed it as I had taken it off a rebuilt engine that way and bagged and tagged it. (I had to rebuild the "rebuilt" engine)
I sent the pump off to these guys for a complete kit and rebuild -
http://www.maritimedragracing.com/then_and_now_automotive___se.htm
Ran it about 10-15 minutes on the newly rebuilt engine. Took it apart after seeing an oil leak at the bottom of the fuel pump to inspect the housing and found the crack.
When I took the pump apart I found they had not taken it apart to clean and detail before putting the new kit in - or did they just not put a new kit in? Expensive rebuild for the work to not have been up to par. Next time I will buy the kit and do it myself.
The guy sent me an apology after I sent him the pictures but didn't offer a refund.
Sorry to hear that. It's frustrating to pay for a professional, and have to fix their work. Do you have to replace the whole pump now that its cracked?
I have fixed it with JB weld from inside and outside and re-installed the pump. Will submit photos shortly.
update, here is the pump rebuild-

Hi Kerry,
Think it will hold up? Just curious as to your level of comfort with the fix...
Yes, the fuel pump rebuilder (original one) recommended I do the repair with jb weld, said he had repaired a lot of pumps using it.
I ran it some today and it sounds good. Need to install a bushing in the bell housing clutch arm tomorrow. I have two extra bell housings that I checked and one had a keyed bushing and the other one had nothing, so either the clutch arm shaft is different for the non bushed one or a bushing was installed from the factory.
