I am installing a new fuel tank in my1946 truck, and I need to know Ohms of fuel gauge before I order sending unit, the Ohms is not shown in the factory shop manual. Can anyone out there help me with this question? Thank you, Kevin Morrow
I have been making new sending units for the 1941-47 Hudsons as well as the 1948-54 Stepdowns and the 1955-57 Hashes. They are in the correct 10-75 ohms range. If using on the 1941-50 Hudsons that originally used a bimetal sending unit, you need to put the 1951-55 style constant 5.5V instrument voltage regulator in the power feed to the fuel gauge only (temp gauge will need unregulated power from IGN switch).
Kenneth, do you have sending units for sale? I have been conversing with Paul Shuster about sending units that he has, however, no purchase yet for he must be inundated with other things going on. My 46 has been converted to 12 volts, and I have added "runtz" resistors to both fuel gauge and temperature gauge. Thank you, Kevin Morrow
