Can anyone tell me if there is an alternative carburetor for the 1946 212 engine? The carburetor that I have now is a Carter WDO 501S. Thank you

You can also call Daytona Parts co. at 386-427-7108. They have "NEW" replacement carbs available that work very good.

Doug, engine running very rich, heavy carbon monoxide, I suspect the float level and or electric fuel pump. Fuel pump pressure is 4 -5 psi. I should probably go back to mechanical fuel pump. The dual action pump is still on engine, but now has electric wipers. Someone previous to my ownership of truck switched to electric fuel pump for a reason. I talked to a gentleman at Daytona Carburetor, that man knew his stuff

Kevin, we have found the Daytona parts valve will hold 4-5-6 #'s of pressure, no problem. With that said, I would say remove the top of the bowl, rest the float level again. With everything in place on the bowl cover, turn it upside down and blow in the inlet and check to insure the float is shutting the pressure off. Also make sure that the actual float is good, and the float valve seat is snug in the bowl seat. That carb should work with no problems when set up correct. Hope this helps-Hudsonly

Doug, are you referring to Daytona's float valve? Can this float valve be used on my 501s carburetor? Thanks, Kevin

Kevin, as Doug suggested, give Daytona Parts a call and talk with the owner. They have done numerous carbs for me and he knows his stuff inside and out ---

Kerry, Daytona carburetor is backed up 8 weeks, can you think of any any other carb rebuilders? Doug Wildrick suggested the Stromburg "Big 97" as an alternative carburetor for my truck. Daytona carburetor sells them.

Kevin, I have tried a few others, but none were on par with Daytona Parts Company.

Kevin, did you get your WDO 501S rebuilt? I have a good core here I can rebuild, and I also have one already rebuilt, but Ric Strickland in Austalia has expressed interest in it....if he doesn't take it then it will be available.
