The next time you have your hood open take a piece of wire and attach it to the hood release pull. Then put it through the hole where the hood release cable comes through. Put a loop on the end so that you can pull it to release the hood if the cable breaks or the lock on the end comes off just let it hang behind the grill where you can reach it.
