Does anyone out there have a recommendation for a valve spring compressor for reassembly of a 262 engine that I am rebuilding and will be installing in my 1946 truck? The shop manual calls for J 587A valve spring compressor for installation and KMO -484 for removal. These tools are probably obsolete. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thank you, Kevin Morrow
I use one similar to this one. The lever end sets on top of the valve in block and the lower end cups under the spring. Push the lever down (adjustable) and it pulls the cup up and compresses spring to allow for keepers to be put in or taken out. (this site won't allow me to post ebay link)

I just purchased one off ebay. As long as it says for side valve think you will be ok.
