Helping a friend with a type P rear axle transplanted in his '51.
1) Is there a vent we need to find / insure its function?
2) Any way to externally lube the axle bearings without pulling each shaft?
3) Can a guy replace the pinion seal without opening the case and removing pinion assy etc per the manual?
Thanks,
Jon Cronk

There is a p0lug in the axle housing that allows you to fit a grease nipple to lube the bearings but be very careful that you do not blow the grease past the seal into the drum. Jack the rear end up and manually revolve the wheel while you pump four strokes of grease into the bearing, should do the job. the [pinion seal can be replaced without taking anything apart. Remove the flange and use a seal puller.
