Hi All:
Still trying to get my "New to me". barn find back on the road. I've discovered that several people in the past have had their hands under the hood which has made for some curious findings.  I found what has to be the O/Drive kick down switch tucked behind the windshield wiper motor last week. Has obviously been there awhile.
My question is that Nowhere does there appear to be a mounting hole for the switch.  I've taken up the carpet under the gas pedal, --no hole-- although there appears to be a hole through the floor about 2 inched in front of the pedal.
I bought the BW Overdrive book  and in reading that and discussions here on the forum, it seem that some o/drives had the switch installed in the gas pedal linkage?

Again I can find nothing obvious on the car to show where this might have been installed. I openly admit to not being the worlds best mechanic but I am stumped on this one.  Can anyone offer any advice?
Thnx  Todd

Start by verification that there is an overdrive on the transmission.  The overdrive solinoid can be seen on the left-hand side of the car attached to the transmission.  You should be able to see it without jacking up the car by laying next to the car with you head positioned underneath the driver's side door.   If you confirm the overdrive is there, the possibility exists that someone has "changed" the kickdown circuit with a toggle switch.  Typically the overdrive relay is easy to find on the driver's side of the firewall as is the pull switch (lockout) underneath the dash.  I have never seen anything associated with an overdrive placed behind the wiper motor, but it could be possible to stuff the relay back there (but why?).  The kickdown in respect to the linkage wouldn't be too hard to manage off the firewall in line with the linkage off the left side of the block.
