On my recently acquired 1952 Hornet the front brake line connections are frozen. I soaked them in PB Blaster. I am replacing the front flex lines and both are on there pretty tight, Attached are photos. 1) The flex line at the cylinder and 2) the other end of the same flex line where it connects to the solid brake kine. I'm not that experienced and sure don't want to mess things up. Any suggestions? Much Appreciated.
Start with a good quality flare wrench on the metal tubing side of the flex line. The clip is your friend here - don't pry it free with a screwdriver until the flare nut of the metal line is free. Pry out the clip and put a flare wrench on the cylinder to turn the hose free. Tapping a flare wrench with a hammer (not pounding) is surprisingly effective.
If the flex line is in need of replacing it is probably time to replace the brake cylinders and they are fairly cheap. This is more involved but worth it.
Do the reverse to install line: 1) attach to brake cylinder (use the copper crush gasket) and tighten 2) install clip 3) carefully thread metal line flare nut into replacement line 4) bleed lines
Last resort is the use of vice grips and, yes, they will bugger the nut
