I have a 36 Terraplane with a new clutch, pressure plate, and throw out bearing. After I assembled everything last year the clutch was smooth and the transmission shifted well if I let the RPM drop down. Now when I shift either up or down I am getting a fairly strong tic sound when the transmission goes into gear.Is there something that I need to adjust to solve this problem? It does this in all gears.
Thanks for any advice you can give me.

I have covered this in my "Technical Topics" in the W.T.N. It is a matter of technique. There are no synchronising mechanisms in the transmission. The proper change technique is to go up to about 10-15 m.p.h. in low gear, depress the clutch and immediately shift to second gear, moving the gear lever as fast as you can. Speed up to 20 - 25 m.p.h. depress the clutch, and immediately change into top. DO NOT PAUSE BETWEEN SHIFTS. Changing down it does work if you depress the clutch and again as fast as you can move the lever from top to second. This will indeed make a clicking noise, so if you wish to avoid that you must master the "double-de-clutching" method of depress the clutch, move to neutral, let out the clutch, rev the engine, immediately depress the clutch and move into second gear. Same for changing down from second to low gear. Those of us who grew up with "Crash boxes" learned this from the time we started driving, but most people have no clue on how to do it.
