Hi,

I have a broken window in my 53 Superwasp coupe..  I need to remove the interior door panel to fix it and don't want to damage the upholstery.

What is the best way to remove it so I don't tear it up ?

             Thanks,
                       Dave

From memory
Remove inner window mouldings, window winder arm, door opener lever, arm rest locking knob small metal trim near quarterwindow . Using trim remover tool very gently prise trim clips out. You have to remember all the material is 7o years old or thereabouts your backing card will be damaged take care, installation reverse of removal. New backing panels are available from wildrick. I had to make my own as i live in Australia .

Cheers

Good luck

I just re-clothed my door panels.  About 1/3 of the clips would not come out and I had to break them.  Use a plastic trim removal pry tool.  It only takes probably 10 minutes to pop both pieces off.  If any clips break, I just use self-tapping stainless trim screws with metal grommets.  They don't look bad.

i replaced all my metal trim clips when i took door trims off. Trim clips were from a 68 Holden so I would presume a chev one would be similar

Thanks for the advice, I have removed many clips and the panel is loose but wont come out, it is still attached somehow.  It is attached at the bottom of the panel in the center of the door, how do these clips come out?  I can't tell if I am supposed to lift that panel up and out or how it is  supposed to come out.  Any advice will be appreciated,  thanks

Dave, I have the same problem with my '51 Hornet.  I've been told that there is glue on the back of the panel near the center.  I have been away from home for a month and have not been able to confirm that claim but will when I return in March.

Thanks everyone for their input, I was able to get the panel off without destroying it.  Now to get the glass out so I can have some new cut.

Thanks again--

According to the body manual there is a screw at the top of the glass divider, the one that goes between the door glass and the vent window.  That one needs to be removed so the divider can be removed and the glass tipped in to remove it.  As anyone remmoved this screw?  From what I can see the screw holds the vent as well, does the entire vent window need to come out to get the door glass removed?
