Does anyone know if the wires can be safely and easily removed from the 4 slot plug that goes to both the O/D relay on one end and the O/D kickdown switch on the other end? I need to rewire them.
Thanks,
Tom

Yes, you can do it! You will have to remove the small screw/nut (actually I think these are rivets -- replace with screw/nut) in the center and pull the two parts of the plastic housing apart. Then using a jeweler's screwdriver, push down on the 4 connector springs/pins (part of the wire connector that keeps it from sliding out of the plastic housing) to release and pull out the wire connectors. To rewire, you will have to cut off the old wires which are soldered on, then drill out the connectors carefully to remove remnants of old wire and solder. Then solder in the new wiring and replace in correct slots. Bought my wiring harness from YnZs. No one makes the particular connectors for the OD connectors so you have to clean reuse the plastic housings and you have to reuse the connectors. They look and work great once you clean them up.

I am searching for one (or two) of the 4 way connector used for both the kickdown and OD governors on the stepdowns. This 4 way has one of the blades angled in order to ensure proper installation (flat blades, not round posts). I discovered each on my 50 has a crack and chunk missing.

I understand they are not too common. Any one have such an animal?

On the kick-down switch, if you don't mind a small variance from original, for about $17 you can buy a new switch from NAPA that has screw terminals on it (Part # OD6284). Put ring terminals on the four wires and away you go.

Yep. I may do just that. I always try to keep the original parts working, but keeping the car pleasurably drivable is most important.

Thanks for the part number. NAPA serves again!
