Has anyone out there mounted a tach on their stepdown dash? I've purchased a nice Autogage unit wired for 6 volt positive ground from Robert Whitmore in Illinois but am having trouble decided where to mount it. The unit has a roughly 2 1/2 inch face and a 3 inch deep cylindrical body. Any thoughts about the best place to put it? I don't want to experiment by drilling a lot of holes. Vendor pic of the unit attached.

Under the dash in the center.
Another traditional place to mount a tach on old cars that didn’t come with one is on the steering column.
Mounting on the column would be ideal but that spear-point at the top of the shift lever interferes.

Mine is on the column though it is a little low for line of vision.
I like that!!
I see that you have the “horn modification” too. 😉
