Alex; I have an old Ike Smith engine, and I would like to know the year of the block. these may be the wrong numbers. they were on the driver side, cast in. L95

5325000
CWC
2

In that order. thanks for any help you can give. We have owned it for 44 years never thought about what year it was, I think it is a 7x block.

I'm not Alex, but would be glad to answer your question. Casting date code translates to Dec. 9th, 1955 which would be for a 1956 Hornet.
Hope this helps.

thank you guys; that helps, this was an old Ike Smith motor we have had for 44 years, never thought about it till now, can't find any serial number.
wanting to see if it was a 7x motor. It has a 1/2' strocker and bored to 621/2, that should be 353.8.

Gene, I'm not sure the meaning of a tracker crankshaft. Butch Smith has a 5 inch stroker crank made out of a solid steel billet. And I've seen a 5 inch crank welded and then turned down to fit bearings of some other type rod bearings. Dan

Dan; that is spelling soooo bad spell check can't fix it. it is tractor, I heard one time that is what they make the strockers out of. What I am tryng to get across to Danny is I have never seen a flywheel with bolts and nuts. only fine thread bolts, He does not get back as much as I like. I am old school, I like to talk direct not with email, but I am waiting. How did you pay him? pay pal? all at once or some to start and the rest on completions?

Gene, I would doubt that a tractor crank would have the same bore spacing that a 308 has, But who knows? bearing sizes also could be a real problem.
The fly wheel is a 10 inch Hudson that has the center Hole in center of the flywheel bored out to match the centering lug on the chevy torque convertor, and the the three spots to bolt the torque convertor to the flywheel.]
I sent Dany a check for the 700.00 up front as I know Him as we belong to the California inland chapter. You might send Him 50% up front and then 50% when finished or something like that. Talk to Him. Maybe He can send instructions Also Dan
