I just purchased a 1946 Hudson truck with the 212 engine and 3 speed transmission, I want to make the truck more user friendly on the highway. I found a 1949 Hudson 3 speed overdrive transmission, Will this transmission work on my truck? Additionally, will changing rearend gears in this rearend aloow me to approach 65 MPH? Thank you.
You'll get replies on this, but I'll tell you right now that yes, you can easily adapt a Hudson overdrive to this truck, and you can use a higher-speed rearend as well. The OD will probably be all you need to cruise all day at 60-65. There is a lot of parts interchange between the passenger cars and the trucks.
