Just got off the phone with Mike at Rhode Island Wiring who mentioned that they do not have the exact harness for my '50 C6 with Super-Matic in their catalog. They do have a pattern for C8.
One option is to order the C8 harness and make it fit. There are differences, but I would think they are minor
One option is to order the '49 with drive-matic and overdrive.
One option is to pull my harness completely and send it to them for a pattern.
What have any of you done? This is not a museum piece, but I would like to be able to not have to be constantly chasing electrical problems going forward.
Thanks.
Darren,
I removed the harness from my 35 T after taking many pictures which I then marked up.
I make up the wiring diagram from my owners manual which I marked up as well.
I tagged all the wires with a wire label kit. The tags being as shown on the wiring diagram markup.
I shipped it to Rhode Island and asked that they tag the new wires as I had the old ones tagged.
worked great.
PS
I tagged the wires and marked up the wiring diagram prior to removing the wiring.
Check with YNZ’s in CA. They may have the harness your looking for. I use harnesses from both YNZ’s, and Rhode Island Wiring. Both are good companies with very good harness.
I used YNZ's harness in a '48 C8 Cp,. and it was absolutely spot on. Only difference between the 8 and 6 is the length of the wire for the distributor, and the temp sender.
Went ahead and ordered the YNZ harness. Al in Maricopa said that was the way to go as well. Not cheap, but surely better than spending the rest of my life chasing gremlins.
