Hi Everybody!
it was a long winter of no progress on the restoration of my dads 4d wasp. But, i have found a solid running 4d hornet with a rebuilt 308 in it. I know it wouldn't make sense to most. But, it was my dads car, it means a lot to me, and I am thinking about buying the hornet to use its engine/trans/rear end/chrome/ possibly some body panels... any thoughts on this? Is it possible?
John
Although I am not familiar with the '54s, I'm guessing they aren't all that different from my '51's. I transferred my rebuilt 232 from my wrecked Pacemaker into my replacement '51 Commodore with virtually no issues. Kept the Commodore trans, which bolted right up. My understanding is that most of the stepdown stuff is largely interchangeable.
Thanks John. That's what I was thinking. I read somewhere where the hornet is a couple inches longer- I think it's all from front door forward... idk for sure. I would like to use the hornet fenders - my wasp is a little rough up front.
You are correct about that -- 5" shorter wheelbase on the Wasp/Pacemaker, and it's all ahead of the A pillars, so those Hornet fenders will not transfer over. There are a couple of places where you might find fenders for your ride, but I would start (as always) with Lance Walker who probably either has them or knows where to get them.
Thanks John. Do you have contact info for Lance?
I just bought the 54 Hornet and can't wait to get it.

You'll be hard-pressed to find a more friendly, knowledgeable or helpful person than Lance. No guarantee he has your fenders, but he probably has good leads on someone who does.
