Greetings ---I believe my '54 Super Wasp Hollywood was originally outfitted with 262 ci + Twin H (three holes on the trunk lid, driver's side, for emblem). I found a dusty set of Twin H air cleaners in storage but I'm perplexed figuring out how to mount/orient the air cleaner on the rear carb without interfering with the windshield wiper motor. In the first picture below notice the proximity of the rear carb to the firewall. The only way to fit the air cleaner is to angle it away from the firewall which looks odd. This leaves me wondering whether the Superwasps w/Twin H had a smaller set of air cleaners or was the rear unit angled away from the firewall as shown? Appreciate all feedback, thank you!
Angling away is correct
Steven— Thanks for the feedback. Would you happen to have a similar set up that you could post a picture of? Thanks again!
Not at the moment sorry going through rebuild at the moment hoping ot will clear my electric wiper motor. You wouldn't know of any twin h inlets for sale would you just realised mine has crack int it.
Cheers
Steven
Here are some images of another where the rear cleaner is angled.
Odd looking yet functional.
Installing a different water temperature housing on the head ---shorter, outlet pointing towards radiator--- might provide enough space to rotate the front cleaner to match the diagonal orientation of the rear cleaner. And/or notching the bottom of the front air cleaner to clear the housing. Either way the objective being to match the cleaners diagonally and make them parallel (like two Corporal rockers).
So off to the races ---time to paint those air cleaners Colonial Red! And the vacuum tank semi-gloss black.
(other fit ideas still welcome)
Steven ---Are you looking for a Twin H intake? I have several intakes and exhaust manifolds. Shoot me a private message if interested.
Paul Schuster wanted parallel install for his Air cleaners... so the rear air cleaner was modified as shown in the picture.
That's perfect! Thanks Ken
Looks great. Bit tricky to do i would say.
