Hi all, In the next few weeks, I will be doing a complete valve job on my 1948 Commodore 8 sedan. does anybody have any tips or tricks that I should keep in mind? all input is appreciated!

Michael, while you have the valves out, remove all the cam followers and inspect for wear, and re-grind or replace if necessary. If they are worn to one side, this indicates a worn or missing camshaft thrust washer. When re-installing you need to ensure they are correctly aligned as per the instruction book page 3-35/36. Tappet bolts must be refaced also, and clearance set to .008 and .012 with engine hot. Also pays to replace the timing gear if it is the fiber type.
