Finally getting back to work on my Commodore. I am putting the stock front seat in and i think I have the track adjustment latch figured out for the inside end. Haven't determined how the outside {chrome lever end} fastens on to the seat. If anyone has any ideas or a photo, please contact me. Thanks in advance.
Ron

Is this for a Stepdown Commodore of the 1948-52 vintage, or the older 41-47 vintage? They are somewhat different.

You put the lever's shaft into the hole in the side of the driver's  side seat track and hook the little spring up, and then put the seat tray down. then you line the lever shaft mounting bracket up with the two holes in the seat tray and put the two sheet metal screws in and tighten them.

Thank you very much for the explanation. The problem is that the interior of the car was pretty well srripped and the parts just thrown on the floor. Have not found the spring and not sure about the bracket. Will try to find or adapt needed pieces. Thanks again.

Ken, he has a '49 and most of those 2 attaching screws are 10-32 thread. As Ken pointed out, the little spring. The spring is what retains the assemble in place.

Ron, the bracket is made onto the shaft and unless you remove the 2 phillips headed screws in the actual handle to shaft, it should still have it all there, except the spring.  We have found the spring is usually damaged because it was NOT un-hooked before removing the seat, and altimately stretches the spring beyond use.

Doug,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Thank you. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, but I haven't been out in the shop for a while. As soon as I do, I'll let you know how I make out.

Ron,
Here is a photo of the adjuster and the elusive spring in my 1950 Pacemaker.  Hope this helps.

John
OK, now that I see the photo, I understand why I was having problems. The rectangular piece toward the end of the handle is missing on mine. I believe that the piece attaches to the seat tray and not the vehicle floor and if it is solid or hollow. If the assumption is wrong, please advise. If anyone might know where to get one, please advise. Thank you all for your help.

Ron,
The two Phillips head screws go through the seat pan that's what holds everything in place.  The release bracket does not attach to the floor, everything moves with the seat.

   John,
Thank you. Now I know why nothing was making sense. I don't know if the part I have is for another vehicle or has parts missing. I'll have to try to locate one or try and make something that will work.

Looks like the original handle was broken off the shaft and they attached a handle from something else using a countersink screw......
