Here we go again. I pulled the engine and trans from my 52 hornet . taking the trans apart because I need the torus for the replacement engine which is rebuilt. The springs in the torus cover are very loose, one is broken. Can these be replaced? Haven't seen anything to suggest they are serviceable. Any assistance will be welcomed. I'm in Southern New Jersey.
If you mean the pressure plate assembly for a 3 speed manual transmission then yes, I can help. 704 792 911zero
Nope. I mean the torus cover that has the 6 springs in it. Anti vibration. (?) I spoke with the folks at Fatso, Transmission people. They just replace them by bending out the tabs. They don't have any springs Just need to find the springs now. I thought of clutch plate springs. Do they install the same way? There are actually a couple different springs in the torus cover but I wonder in the overall scheme of things if they could be the same. Not that I doubt there is a good reason for the way they are. They are about 1.5 inches long, 3/4 + inches diameter. 4 have 6 rows, 2 have 5 rows.
It is a dual range hydramatic. H-52
Thank you for your response
James, we have numerous torus bowls, so I expect we have what you need.
I guess I'm trying to figure out if I need to replace it instead of a couple springs. I have a bad habit of repairing things when todays mindset is to replace it. I would like to get the springs but sometimes we can't get what we'd like.....etc. thanks for responses.
James, we will sell you just a spring if you like? Give us a call if you like, Thanks Doug
Will do.
