The front seat was completely removed awhile back in my 49 commodore coupe. Upon trying to reinstall, the two mounting brackets lockup with no front or rear movement. The two mounts can be moved as long as the connecting rod is not in place. There are spacers under the brackets for clearance of the connecting rod and nothing appears to be bent or twisted. None of the blocks that hold the top and bottom pieces of the brackets together are touching or jamming.                           Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.

Yes, if you would please. Maybe I'll be able to find out what the problem is. Thank you.

Ron, have you found the seat latch lever?. It is located on the drivers seat track. Unless you lift the lever, the tracks will not slide once the rod is installed. Make sure to lubricate each side. When installed correctly, the rod will or almost touch the center hump, where usually there is a piece of carpet, front the factory.  I expect the carpet was to insure no rattle. . The rod also has to be timed the same as the other side-meaning located in the same hole in the track when assembling. Hope this helps.

Thank you both again. Sorry I didn't reply sooner but had to take care of some ongoing health concerns and a few weeks after that my computer went down. Long story that tied things up for 6 more weeks. I did follow what was suggested and finally got the seat working by slightly loosening the four screws that hold the tracks to the floor. Everything is lubricated and the tracks are 'timed'. The seats will not be moved very often so I should be ok.
