Hi All,
The shaft seal in the water pump on my 1948 Super Six (262 cid) started leaking yesterday on the old girl's first drive in a while.
I can find replacement pumps online, but I'm keen to overhaul the one already installed, so I'm looking for a replacement shaft seal - and this seems to be a tougher challenge!
Do any of you know where I could find a new shaft seal for overhaul of the water pump?
Thank you all in advance.
Regards from Denmark,
Ebbe
Ebbe, So far as I know, there is no replacement seal or rebuild kit available for stepdown water pumps. You may rarely find a NOS one on ebay but you are then looking at a seal thats 60 years old at a minimum .Best bet is to have one rebuilt by a pump rebuilder.

Thank you for your replies, guys.
I'll source a rebuilt pump in stead then. I just like the idea of having the original pump still on there!
You can get a seal at any bearing and seal provider .Just take the old seal with you.It will be a spring loaded seal.
At the same time replace the bearing. They are a standard bearing and shaft combined. They come with extra long shaft and have to be trimmed to lenght.

Dale Cooper sells brand new ones. No core required. New castings.
Ive bought and used two of Dales new pumps. Better than rebuilding in my estimation.
