New to the forum. May have already posted this question but???  I want to convert my Step-Down to front disc brakes. Please advise/recommend source for proper kit to do this.  Thanks. Richard Hawley, Secretary - Gem State Club - Spokane, WA

Scarebird and ABS Power brake make kits. You will have to google their contact info..

I've been doing research for my '51 conversion.

Scarebird's kit will have an identical offset to the original (wheel won't sit further out from the hub)....what's called a 'zero offset'

But after questioning ABS twice, they couldn't guarantee a zero offset....and couldn't tell me what the difference from zero would be.

Take a look at the kit at the Kanter Auto Products  website.  They advertise a 12" rotor on their Hudson disc brake kit.  I wish I had purchase this kit because of the larger rotors. $839 for the complete kit.

Be sure and measure everything if you go to 12" rotors. The Caliper is the item to worry about !

Richard:
Is that the 12"Kanter rotor and disc?

No.
The bigger difference would be vented rotors and/or power brakes.  The Power Brake system made a HUGE difference on mine. It really stops too fast. You are hesitant to step on the brake pedal! Goodness knows if a dog ran across the road; All wheels would lock immediately~~~ now I need antilock !!!!lol
BUT, the main point is: will a 12" rotor fit  remembering that the caliper would add 2" inches maybe AND allow stock wheels. I haven't got my wheels off to check but I rather doubt it.
EDIT: CHECKED NAPA PART NUMBER LIST FOR MY DISK SYSTEM (Lebud) AND OUTSIDE DIA. IS 10.675". They are 79 Ford Granada.
