Is there a way to remove the skins from 1935 style Terraplane hubcaps without damaging the skins ? I have some small dents in the hubcaps that could be removed and polished if the skins could be removed.
Any tips or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks
Our longtime Club member Press Kale has restored many of these hubcaps by removing the outer shell or skin as you refer to it. From what I understand, he developed a way to remove the skin without the distorting damage cause by trying to un-crimp them from the inner shell. My suggestion is to call or email Press regarding this.
Dont even wast your time trying to do this you have to call Press Kale he is the best I have had Press do so many caps for me I lost track. When I saw the first set of caps I sent to Press when I got them back I called and asked if he had a hubcap factory in his bacement because they look brand new like I said he is the BEST.
Thanks for the reply but I am kinda odd I guess. I enjoy working on old cars and try to do as much as I can myself. I've said "If you don't get bruised, bleed a little working on the car you really don't own it, you just put your money in it.
Thanks
