So the old cloth covered wire on the ends of my headlight wires are pretty rotten. The 3 cloth covered wires (Black/white/green as i recall) in the rubber housing. Does anyone know where to find replacement rubber housed cloth covered wire so i can rewire them and make them look good? My backup plan is to slice back the rubber covering and splice in new wire then wrap the ends of the rubber housing.

Thanks
Mox

You can buy just the cross over headlight harness from Rhode Island Wireing. They sell individual harness sections. Correct colors and ends. They have a web site and catalog on line.

Hi, you can buy the cross over harness and the headlight bucket wire assemblies from Rhode Island Wiring. They have a pretty long lead time so you may have to wait a while for them or you can make the yourself.

I completely rewire my 49 Commodore this past winter and made the headlight bucket wire assemblies, parking light wire assemblies and crossover harness myself. You can purchase correct color 10 or 12 g cloth covered wire as well as the headlight connector sockets from Rhode Island wiring. Feed the wire through neoprene or rubber tubing and through new or your used grommets and solder the three wires to the headlight bulb connector and connect hub other ends to the L& R junction blocks.

Same goes for the crossover harness but instead of rubber tubing use non metallic wire loom from RI Wiring.

Recommendation:  don’t throw anything away until the new pieces are installed.

hope this helps,

Bob
