The rear seat bottom of my 1953 Hornet is really tight. I can’t get it slid back far enough to drop behind the forward retaining brackets. It might just be a tough 2- person job, but I’m hoping someone has a trick or modification for getting the bottom in without as much sweat and skinned knuckles and cussing’.
Additional details: the interior of this car was restored with new fabric and foam before I bought the car. Shortly after I bought it, I pulled the rear seat out to look under it for any trash or miscellaneous stuff when I was investigating a rattle from the back of the car. I don’t recall that it was difficult to remove, so it might not have been pushed all the way back and down after the reupholstery job. In any case, the seat bottom is too far forward and reduces rear passenger foot room, so I need to get this figured out.
Thanks in advance.
You may be pushing back to far. On some cars the rear seat bottom hooks are shaped like a G and pushing too far back won’t allow you to lift it. Try pulling it ahead a little and lift. You have to push back and lift at the same time without going to far back.
