I want to put radials on my 50 Pacemaker. I also need at least two wheels. I was thinking of using the Mopar wheels that have the locating hole for the dowel. Seems I read somewhere these have the correct hole pattern. Anyone know what years a suitable wheel were used? I'm thinking 15X5 or 5 1/2. Has anyone got another suggestion? What tire size?
Thanks.
Dave
15x6, is a better choice. 225/75/r15 radial tire . We have used this combination countless times with great results.
15 x 6 gives a bit more clearance to remove/ replace the right rear tire, about 1/4" more clearance between brake drum and the perimeter frame member.. The sidewalls of the tires actually expand less than the increase of the rim width due to the increase of the rim width actually only serving to increase the circumference of the cross section of the tire, not the actual width of the cross section. I have 15 x 7's on my Stepdown, and the right rear tire is tight going on / coming off due to the Panhard Rod's geometry swinging the axle to the right about 1/2-3/4" on full droop. So, 15 x6 is best for most folks, 15 x 7 is OK for those who want a bit more cornering power, but are willing to have to let some air out of the tire and a bit of wrestling to get the right rear off and on.
