Hi All, Just fitted a rebuild kit in my duel action fuel pump for my ‘39 Hudson 6 Coupe 92 series. Bench tested and all’s well. I am a little concerned about the amount of spacers/gaskets needed for refitting, the total thickness originally fitted was about 1/4”. I have been told this is critical on Hudson’s, can any of you guys confirm? Thanks in advance, Bob (UK member)

I know that some require the spacer, if it came off the engine with the spacer put them back on. Make sure that the arm is between the engine block and the cam shaft, not on the other side of the cam. Ask me how I know. Good luck
Bob,
One of our Hudson vendors has these items available to try to mitigate heat transfer from the engine block to the fuel pump. The gasket stack which you already have, but also phenolic spacers that insulate the bolts that hold the fuel pump to the engine block. In anticipation of a question you may have, I don't remember which vendor I purchased these from at a national meet. Possibly Charlie Harris or Dave Kostansek, they are both in the current roster.
Charlie Harris makes the heat isolation kits for Fuel pumps
Dale Cooper had these made a few years ago. They are really required , makes a substantial difference in the hot soak problems. The metal spacer plate is also required for your year engine. I believe the shop manual has the sequence for installing.
