Hello there, i am a new member out of lancaster pa area. I just took ownership of a 54 Super Jet and the drivers side floor pan is non existent. Anyone know of a supplier for replacement floor panels for the Jet? I see them listed on c2cfabrication.com website but they dont look anything like whats in the car and its listed for 48-54 Jet. Everything I am seeing says the Jet was 53-54 only. Also looking for a gas tank if you could point me in a good direction there.

You may reach more Jet owners by posting in the section specifically for Jets

I have not specifically ordered floor panels from c2cfabrication.com but have heard more bad reviews than good reviews. You will not find any direct replacements to fit. Luckily we had a spare floor pan laying around we were able to use as a template when we replaced the floor in one of ours. I'll upload some pictures to show you the progress. You are correct the Jet was only produced in 53 and 54. As far as the gas tank goes is the original still there? Your best bet would be to have that one cleaned and sealed. We have some extras but they would all need cleaned and sealed.

Thanks, I had a feeling that was the case with C2C. I will end up doing much the same as you did to mine. So far its only the drivers side that needs attention but I haven't dug very far. As for the tank, I have the original or at least an original, it was sitting in the trunk. It is in pretty bad shape and is missing the sender and what I assume is a pickup tube, a little two bolt flange. I am planning on taking it to a local shop to see if they can do anything with it. For the moment a previous owner mounted a 2 gallon tractor tank under the hood.

The pickup tube and sending unit can be found. I believe we have a few laying around the garage somewhere.

Wade, unless you have a special attachment to this particular Jet, you might want to take stock of the situation before you proceed. It is going to involve a lot of time and money just to get the body restored to the point where you can then spend more money on paint, chrome, upholstery, electrical, and drive train. If you like the idea of owning a Jet, you might want to look around for a more substantial and rust-less example of the car. The up-front cost would probably be more than what you paid for the one you now own, but if the body is solid you would be leap-frogging over the thousands you'll spend in welding in new metal.

Pennsylvania is a hotbed of Hudson activity, and I hope you'll connect with the Pennsylvania Dutch Chapter up there. (Or maybe you have done so, already). The Hudson network is the best way to find out about great cars for sale even before they hit the market. There are always guys with Hudson collections who are starting to thin their herds. And Hudson guys always seem to know of cars owned by non-Hudson guys, which may be for sale. And a lot of these Pennsylvania guys have all sorts of technical knowledge of these cars which they can pass along to you, first-hand. Once you are connected to the network, all sorts of possibilities open up!

Dorian, just dug around a bit in the trunk and found the pickup tube. Jon, the car has been in the family for about 20 years, other than the drivers side floor the car is solid. I am a fan of the car, however i have to admit its not mine, its my wifes. She drove it around my parents yard some 15 years ago and has been after my father to give it to her since. My father started to restore it many years ago but as happens with many such projects it got back burnered. I am still digging into to it but so far it needs upholstery work, gas tank, floor repaired, radiator re-cored. I am focusing first on mechanical, so getting it running again, brakes, fuel tank, suspension etc. Then I will worry about fixing the floor and dealing with interiror.

Wade, that casts an entirely different light upon the situation! The car is irreplaceable, and thus your costs and efforts are justified.

One other suggestion: you might contact other Jet owners (especially in Pennsylvania), which you can find through the Club listings. Make an inventory of all your parts needs and e-mail out lists to these people. Perhaps someone has a parts car that will yield up something you're looking for, or knows where there's a parts car. Maybe someone purchased spare NOS parts for a Jet he owned years ago, still has the parts, and would be willing to sell them. Or knows of an interchange with a more popular make of car. You just never know....

Wade as Dorian said we have 8 jets in our family and about every part u could want(not that we would sell lol).
The jets are fun to drive and are what I call the poor man's hudson to get into. I am sure as john said there is one out there with less rust but hey if u have the knowledge to do the repair yourself then do it and keep a Jet on the road. Unlike other people would just say it's to bad I will find a better one.
Feel free to contact us if u have any question or concerns.
