Hello,
I am happy to report that I was able to get my 1942 Super Six running and took it for my first drive down the driveway. I was able to drive it for about 500-ft, however the clutch was slipping terribly! It was slipping so bad that when I parked it on a crack in the driveway it could not pull itself out of it. I was told when I bought the car that the clutch was stuck at one point and may have been dislodged improperly.
So I pulled the transmission out and cleaned it up, drained the fluid from the clutch and then stopped. I figured I need to do some more reading.
So my questions:
What are some tips you can share from your clutch replacement project that could benefit me and others reading this thread?
Where should I get my replacement clutch from and what was your experience in obtaining the new clutch?
Any regrets? Do you wish you would have replaced more/less parts while you had the transmission out (pilot bearing, throw-out bearing, resurface flywheel, etc.)?
I have no history on this car, its new to me so I cannot say when the last time anything has been serviced.
Thanks in advance for your valued input!
