I'm having difficulty with the external terminal that connects to the positive side of the coil. I suspect the machine screw is not stock, which makes keeping it electrically isolated from the body somewhat difficult. The screw is carriage style with a round head and a square shoulder. There is an insulating sleeve around the screw as it passes through the ear of the breaker plate and the body of the distributor. But it seems to long as keeps things from tightening properly. Is this just the wrong hardware? The distributor diagram in the service manual does not have an exploded view, so its hard to tell what order things should be stacked up.
Is there a small parts kit (dare I hope) out there somewhere or what parts can I cobble together to keep things tight yet insulated?
Blessings to all in this difficult time.

This picture shows the insulator stacking (the bolt sleeve is not visible). I believe Lance Walker rebuilds distributors, you should try contacting him. There is a considerable amount of info at: https://hudsonrestoration1948-54.com/IgntionSystem.htm
and a better picture.
These are the parts that go through the distributor housing. There is an insulated sleeve on the bolt shown. If the sleeve is not available you can shrink electrical shrink tubing over the bolt to insulate it. Good Luck Ken Cates
