After changing the (2) rubber bushings on the driveline's center bearing assembly I took the car for a spin and still heard that hard metal "clank" when accelerating from stops and approaching corners. Something still wasn't quite up to snuff with the drive train. I remembered how I had opted to use the original transmission mounts after rebuilding the 53' Hydra-Matic, mating it to the refreshed 56' Twin H engine (yes with the 1/2" spacer between the crank and flywheel), and deftly tacking these huge jewels into the bay. Maybe they're were in worse shape than I originally reckoned? So I called Cole, ordered Doug's (2) tranny mounts for $180, and completed the install over the weekend. Man what a difference! The clank is gone, the Hydra is silent, and now 65mph is silky smooth! Pics below...

One more pic of the right tranny mount. I admit I was shocked by how quickly the used mounts failed after getting the car on the road for a couple of months (maybe 300-400 miles). It goes to show --- cutting corners never pays,,, .jpg)
