Uncle. What is the significance of the designations " I45" and "I27" on the circular badging attached to interior door panels (see pic). What do these numbers represent?
I think the 145 were hornet powerd and the 127 were Wasp with 262 power.
Kerry ---I think you're right about the 145s were in Hornets and 127 in Wasps. But what do these numbers represent? It's not the engine displacement, or the wheel base length, or the number of cylinders and type of transmission. In the late 60's & early 70's Oldsmobile produced the "442" which I believe represented "4" Barrel Carb, "4" Speed Transmission, "2" door body. The I27 and 145 must represent something but I can't seem to break the code...
They state the standard (non-Twin H) engine HP.
Thank you Park! That makes perfect sense now that you solved the mystery. Man I feel better -- living with OCD and facing such an unknown is worse than sitting blindfolded in the hurt locker! That's very interesting ---I wonder if Hudson was the first American automobile company to place such a horsepower highlight on a metal emblem---especially one within the interior of the car! Amazing,,,
