Anybody ever built a hudson trailer from the back half of a real hudson using the rear axle and trunk ?
Not seen one. Looks neat however it appears about 2/3rd of the weight is behind the axle and with trailer loaded the trailer will be trying to lift rear of car for a possible very scary drive. Had that happen to me once with a very unbalanced car trailer carrying a full size 3/4 ton PU with big heavy utility box pulled by a light duty 1/2 ton short wheelbase PU. It was a scary drive until starting down a 6 percent grade then trailer took over control, one second I saw trailer out left window next instant see it in right window back of pickup going back an forth Somehow it slowed down enough to regain control. God was with me to protect both myself and my sons new pickup I borrowed. I have not towed another vehicle since that day. Maybe lengthen trailer to include rear seat area.
I like the idea and I once saw a trailer made out of two rear-ends of a 50's plymouth/dodges. They were cut off and welded back together. It was for some honky-tonk country band but when it was completed, it looked pretty neat. You will definitely have something unique.
May 4, 2019: We dissected a junked out 1951 4-door to start my trailer. Special thanks to Wayne, Greg and Rudy of the Ocotillo Chapter, HET.
Side view of the trailer we are building in the Ocotillo Chapter; reducing the number of leaf springs and preparing the rear end for installation. May 12, 2019
Just a half-minded suggestion is to face the rear to the front for a Toy Hauler/parts trailer, that's my 2 1/2 cents . Keep the pic's coming!
This whole trailer idea is glorious madness.
the steel C-Channel tongue is built by Larry M. of New Mexico.; { I got to learn and help a Master At Work}. The plan is to bolt it to the cross-member where the car frame is located under the old back seat. Then, weld it in place, also, adding "fish-plate" as necessary. It Will Never Come Off.
I am thinking about installing a door adjacent to the tongue to gain access to the front of trailer. It will be too far from the trunk to reach to the trailer's inside front area.
1951 trailer is coming along. I have had some great help; Henry, Rudy, and Larry. Going weld some fish plate on the more tongue structural strength on Friday, June 7th
Have you thought about the "sail" effect?
Tell me.
Note see attached photo because I am going to build a complete nosed front without windows but with a cargo door low and over the tongue
I drive a '28 Essex Coupe - very significantly less power than all stepdowns, hence my concern!!
yeah, I understand the concern about pulling a trailer with your car, Sir.

The trailer is ready to more from the Hudson Ranch to my garage to start on the skeleton for the nose.
Received the trailer door today which will be mounted at the front lower center area of the nose.
