Has anyone adapted the standard Hudson drum brakes on a Stepdown to be auto-adjusting like later model cars? If so, how did they do it?

My advice here, and on good authority, do not try putting those self adjusters on your Hudson. My experience with them is less than exemplary. They have a tendency to either ratchet up too tight so that brakes grab / lock up, or they don't adjust at all.........I took the self adjusters out and put conventional star wheel adjusters in for folks that got tired of the crappy "self adjusters".
