Here are some shots of my Hudson Hornet club coupe. The car sat a looong time. The former owner started the restoration probably in 1981! in Canada. It was kind of a cosmetic restoration. Really nice interior (think the fabric is from SMS), nice paint and chrome....but....engine was worn out, patched floor boards (attached with rivets)...and a lot of other things that have to be fixed. The brand new tires on the car are from 1986!...but have never seen the road. Of course they are dry rotted now. I assume the car was not on the road in the last 40 years. There are still some little things to do... but i´m close to hit the road. I still have some questions and are in need of a few small parts. But first of all some pictures of my Hudson restoration. I have the shop manual and also the body service manual but have no glue about the following: how do i attach the little painted trim moulding on the rear fender?... of course with the trim retainer. Kenneth wrote me that i have to put a hard fiber gasket between the rear fender and the curved outer frame. Mine is missing, so i should use a 1/4" x 3/4" strip of 80 durometer neoprene. I should not use a sponge rubber, it would be too soft and when tightening the screws for the trim retainer, it will crush and then dent the fender at bottom, making it wavy. The screws that hold the retainer for the trim strip screw into the curved frame members. They thread into holes in the frame.
So far so good, but:
The screws go through the holes in the frame...that means the screws stick out a little bit in the wheelhouse??? The upper part of the fender skirt will rub on the screw tips??? Can anyone of you post a picture of that mentioned area? A picture would make it clear.
