I have purchased an engine S/N 49189872. It's a 262 from a 1949 Super but I would like to know what model. I think maybe a Brougham convertible. Date is 8 16 49 casting 300001 ? I have also bought a 1951 Super Six with matching number motor 104171. Snowbird from Canada and will be working on it in Ocala, Florida over the winter

John, the 49 is a narrow block motor. The 51's are the wide block motors. Just for your info. I live up the road from Ocala, near Lake City.

John, I think you're asking what specific body style your engine would have been installed in, originally. If so, then unfortunately I don't think this information is available any more -- if there even once existed a record of what engines were installed in which cars. Most of the company records were unceremoniously tossed out in 1954, after the Nash - Hudson merger. Thus, it's anybody's guess as to what sort of car once had your engine in it.
